Grades 4,5, and 6
In grades 4, and 5/6, we have been discussing Terry Fox's life. In grade 5/6, we are reading Run, by Eric Walters, a piece of historical fiction about Terry Fox. We have also been exploring the formation of organisations, both charitable, and for profit, (as it relates to their current unit of inquiry), and goal setting. In grade 4, we have just begun Mordecai Richler's, Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang, while looking at what is means to be a hero. We are also working on who our heroes are, and will create "hero graffiti".
SK, 1, 2, and 3
In the SK/1 class, we have been building our family vocabulary, and discussing childhood means. We have brainstormed what it means to be a kid, have done writing exercises that look at the past, the present, and the future, read some books related to family, and will soon make "photographs", illustrating our own families. With grade 2/3 we have been explorers! We have investigated the map of Canada, it's major cities, the provinces and territories, and had discussions about how and why explorers would have made their way around the world. We have also done some review on the parts of a sentence, and will soon start Flat Stanley. What adventures will he have?!
